The purpose of an eyelid surgery is essentially
to reduce the tired, worn-out look associated with sagging,
droopy eyelids, as reduce bagginess of the eye by removing
excess fat. The results are mainly dependent on your specific
desires combined with your eyelids' general physical condition
(daily exposure to the sun’s rays, gravity, and the
natural aging process can all have negative effects on your
facial skin).
The California eyelid surgery procedure involves making
of small incision around the natural lines and creases of
the eyelid so as to minimize the visibility of scars that
may occur subsequent to the surgery. Since eyelid surgery
is performed as an outpatient procedure, the actual surgery
will take place within the surgeon’s office-based
facility. A general anesthetic is normally applied, but
local anesthesia with a sedative may also be used. The procedure
lasts an average of 1 to 2 hours depending on the extent
of the surgery being performed.
On average, eyelid surgery patients are back to their daily
activities within 2 to 4 days making sure to follow all
directions as provided by the plastic surgeon.
If you are considering a California eyelid surgery, we
would encourage you to meet with one of our board certified
California plastic surgeons for a free consultation to discuss
your options.
Meeting with one of our California plastic surgeons will
allow you to get detailed information about the procedure
you are considering, such as the risks and benefits involved,
the costs, type of anesthesia used and recovery period,
and is a great opportunity to address any concerns or questions
you may have.
