What is a face lift?
A face lift is a surgical procedure intended to remove visible
signs of the aging process that can also be accelerated as
a result of natural forces, such as gravity, and is designed
to make the face appear younger by tightening loose facial
skin. With age or excessive sun exposure, wrinkled creased
skin can develop on the face, neck or forehead along with
fat deposits and folds around the jaw and jowls; a face lift
surgery allows you the ability to "turn the clock back."
Additional procedures to supplement a face lift may be necessary
to achieve the ideal results.
Who should get a face lift?
People whose facial skin has begun to sag as a result of the
aging process, but who still retain some flexibility in their
skin are the perfect candidates for a face lift.
When can I return to work?
Most face lift patients return to work within two weeks following
the procedure. Makeup can be applied 7-8 days following surgery.
You will need to avoid strenuous activity for 2-3 weeks; you
may gradually increase your activity but you must keep in
mind that an increase in movement may cause prolonged facial
swelling.
Will I have scars from the face lift?
During a face lift surgery, the surgeon will only make small
incisions in well-concealed areas to help reduce the amount
of scars that will appear and to allow the face lift to look
as natural as possible. The incisions that are made for a
face lift are located within the hairline and the natural contours
in and behind the ear. Scarring will eventually fade as long
as patients keep to the post-surgery directions given to them
by their surgeon.
How much does a face lift cost?
Face lift surgery costs vary depending on the procedures being
performed and your individual goals and needs for the surgery.
For an accurate price quote we recommend meeting with an experienced
Board certified plastic surgeon.
